The Vision of Hotch Potch: Celebrating Creative Individuality in Fashion

Born out of a dream to pioneer creative individuality into fashion, Hotch Potch celebrates the art of leather crafting in its own way.

The vision is simple: to create statement pieces that bring out each one own’s individual style, thus empowering them to explore freely outside the rulebook.

To create such pieces is art, and art requires more than creative freedom.

For years, leather crafting has been a highly acquired artistic skill, allowing artists to express themselves through the craft.

Leather crafting is the art of working with leather to create useful and decorative objects through various techniques. It involves cutting, stitching, dyeing, and finishing leather to make items such as wallets, bags, belts, jackets, and whatnot.

Leather crafting requires knowledge of the different types of leather, the proper tools and techniques, and great attention to detail. Hotch Potch takes great pride in appreciating and celebrating leather craftsmanship, to the core of its existence

What We Use: Sustainable Materials and Vegetable-Tanned Leather

When today’s world is consumed with swift ever-changing trends, Hotch Potch brings something that is to stay for a long time.

We believe that fashion holds a higher purpose and should be parallel to positive expression, exhilaration, and evolution in the world we exist in. With this in mind, we are also conscious of our environment and use only sustainable materials for our products.

We know leather has been a part of mankind since the beginning and is still used in our day-to-day life. From shoes to bags, furniture, wallets, and even clothes, leather is used in one form or the other.

In order to make it more durable and less susceptible to decomposition, leather is processed under the treatment of tannins and other chemicals and the result is tanned leather. Again, there are several types of tanned leather, including vegetable-tanned leather, chrome-tanned leather, and alum-tanned leather.

Vegetable-tanned leather is made by using vegetable matter, such as tree bark, to tan the leather. Chrome-tanned leather is made using chromium sulfate and other salts whereas alum-tanned leather is made using aluminum sulfate. Each tanned leather type has its own unique properties and can be used for different applications.

We prefer to use vegetable-tanned leather for our leather goods because of its superior qualities. Since it is tanned using natural tannins from vegetable matter like tree bark, instead of synthetic chemicals, it is a much stronger leather that only gets better with age.

The durability and breathability of the leather are what make it stand out from others. Vegetable-tanned leather is highly durable that can withstand time and last for a long time with proper care. The leather is breathable, allowing moisture to pass through the material, making you feel more comfortable.

As the leather ages, it develops a beautiful patina that adds to its natural appearance and character. Additionally, vegetable-tanned leather is also eco-friendly since it does not release harmful chemicals into the environment as some synthetic-tanned leathers do. It is a sustainable material that is biodegradable and does not contribute to pollution.

The leather is sourced ethically from trusted suppliers with environment-conscious decisions in the production and treatment process.

Last but not the least, the versatility of the material is an important factor. We use vegetable-tanned leather to make various items such as bags, wallets, pouches, etc. The bright colors used are natural dyes, making them a unique highlight of our brand.

Designing and Crafting Handmade Products at Hotch Potch

At Hotch Potch, we are driven by modern approaches to design and revive them into our brand, to keep up with the industry. Nevertheless, we believe in authenticity and implement it into our designs in order to stay true to our vision.

We are keen on carrying out extensive research for our design framework. It involves undertaking a thorough analysis of what previously worked with our designs and how the world has evolved before seeking to establish new designs or techniques that connect with Hotch Potch.

Once we have the materials in place and the design finalized, we reach out to our very own skilled designers and craftsmen to create the product. From here on, starts the leather crafting process at its finest.

The leather crafting process is tedious. It's slow and hard, yet timeless for a reason. Each of our products is handcrafted, that is, cut and stitched manually by our craftsmen.

Our core team of experienced designers and craftsmen infuse their passion and potential into their work, carrying out every detail with precision. Through various crafting techniques such as burnishing, distressing, and skiving the leather, our craftsmen strive to improve the overall quality and appearance of the product, giving it an aesthetic appeal.

At Hotch Potch, we are ambitious about the quality of our products and believe that it is the sum of their parts. Every step of the process is inspected in detail to make sure it matches our standards of quality.

As much as we love the end results, we embrace the whole process of leather crafting in its entirety.

What Makes Hotch Potch Unique

Our approach to designing our products is unique, as we are inspired by decade-old vibrant hues as well as new-age designs.

We prefer to create sleek yet minimalistic designs for our goods as we let the quirky yet bold colors speak for themselves. Hotch Potch believes that colors are an important aspect of representing one's identity, and projects each one's individualistic personality.

As we said, we take meticulous care in choosing our materials, designs, structures, and styles while creating the product. We would love our products to be timeless and last for long enough, hence the need for quality par excellence.

As for the materials and techniques, we believe in sustainability and preserving the craft of handmade leather. When both are combined, we get a melange of two worlds creating a distinct identity. That's what Hotch Potch is about!

We are also interested in listening to different perspectives and are open to experimenting with new designs, hence the love for 'customizations'! We can create all-out custom designs for you, embellishing them with a personalized touch.

Have a design in mind that you would like us to bring to life? Let us know!
